Light purple 1940s suit paired with fur overboots and a black tilt hat for winter

I didn't have an Ash Wednesday service this year, thanks to fun things like snow and more snow and budgets. But I had a new hat that was just perfect for the occasion, so I decided to dress the part anyway.

And to tromp out into the back yard to show you just how much snow we have!  It's settled a little over the last few days, but it's still pretty impressive!

Anyway.  The hat.  It's a fun little number made all of fabric with that signature tilt style, a bow, and a veil meant to cover the back of the hair!  I feel like the ruffles and veil give it a bit of a Spanish flair... and it reminds me strongly of a hat I think I've seen in a photo or advertisement, but for the life of me I can't remember where!

Another fun thing about it being an all fabric hat?   I think I could recreate it.  I'm busy working on a pattern right now and if all turns out properly I'll have that on the blog!  Wouldn't a hat like this be stunning in white with a longer veil for a 40s bride with a courthouse or casual wedding?  Or you could do it in leftover fabric to match a handmade dress...
