Everybody is all decked out in their Art Deco best this week for the new Great Gatsby movie, it seems.  I must admit that the 20s are not my preferred decade, so I thought I'd share these portraits of my great-grandparents instead.

Sepia toned portraits of a 1920s couple

Irma Louise and Arthur Henry Bernhardt were my maternal grandfather's parents.  I believe these were formal wedding portraits taken in the early '20s.  My mother thinks they might have been from high school graduation, instead.  I think both of them look fantastically stylish, whatever the occasion!  And I think Irma Louise is proof that you don't need perfect finger waves to rock the '20s look.
